Flow + Rest on Wednesdays @Jooga Soma
Â
Sales text: You know how you feel after yoga. You know how much your body needs it. Your mind will thank you later for taking this break in the middle of the week. And we don't even have to mention the breath...
Let that do the selling, not these words written by a yoga teacher who is honestly in loss of words to explain and sell a yoga class because she has been writing this sort of copy since 2013. It's been 84 years... and she has nothing new to say. Just join.

Specs for those who need some organization in their life:
- We meet on Wednesdays. Middle of the week. You are tired and almost won't want to come but then you remember the room is dimly lit, you can take 3-5 blankets and 1-2 bolsters and 1-3 pillows. You remember the music is nice and Mikaela uses those essential oils. The sequence is low effort but still makes you feel more alive inside that hard working body of yours. You remember the savasana spot where warm hands land on your shoulders and suddenly you can breathe again (even though you were convinced 5 times today anxiety and regrettable life choices have indeed taken the better of you).Â
- We start 19.30 and go for 75 minutes. Mikaela is so chill you can go to her class late or leave early, so excuses are quite limited. She doesn't even care if you do the sequence. She only cares you show up to be with yourself (and pay her).Â
- Mikaela teaches the class and you participate in it. Class consists of gentle movement that feels good and isn't boring, and resting poses where you almost fall asleep. It takes skill to make a a class this simple interesting and exciting, yet she has the skill. Mikaela is trained in many modalities and actually likes teaching. She does not care about convincing anyone about the benefits of yoga (as you can clearly tell from the effort in this copy) but loves to see those tensed faces soften and smile after class.Â
- There will be a small group. People in Mikaela's orbit are cool and usually there is at least one really good laugh/session. The ratio has been known to be higher, too. This is the best kind of socializing: come together to laugh a little and then be quiet for most of the time. Oxytocin peaks for this kind of thing!
- It costs money, exactly 235€ for the full season. Mikaela is gracious to offer a payment plan of four payments of 60€ which you can find here. You can also come as a drop in at 22€ by clicking here, but the price difference is quite drastic, because Mikaela wants to entice you to sign up for the full season (for your joints' sake, and her mental health's sake). She has not been known to refuse money, so you can email her at [email protected] to suggest other kinds of arrangements such as paying by invoice or using e-passi.Â
- The location is Jooga Soma in Vallila (Päijänteentie 7). It's cozy, has lots of props and is easy to reach with metro, bus and tram. + street parking is not impossible either if you choose to arrive in your personal carriage. There is not landing strip for private jets because Mikaela knows her clientele.
- Anyone is welcome. Mikaela has seen & heard it all from injuries to pregnancies to low motivation to rehabilitation to hating yoga. You cannot shock her by being who you are. So come despite yourself. Â
- The class will be taught in English, or if all agree, it will be in our local Nordic Elvish (Finnish). 90% of the time there is no talking at all (gotta love this job).Â
- This is already way too much text for a simple practice that tries to empty the mind, not fill it with more nonsense. If, for whatever reason, you find yourself needing another crucial piece of information, email your question to Mikaela: [email protected] and expect to hear back within 2-4 business days (it is called Nordic work-life balance).Â
